Who we are

An organised, professional voice for the tattoo industry

The New Zealand Tattooists Guild Inc. is a not-for-profit industry body for tattoo artists working in Aotearoa New Zealand. It brings the profession together under a shared standard of skill, care and conduct, and gives it one clear point of contact for government agencies, media and the public.

Tattooing in New Zealand has long operated as a community of skilled practitioners without a formal national body to speak on its behalf. The Guild exists to fill that gap. It represents the interests of professional artists in conversations about health, safety and regulation, and works to make sure those conversations are informed by the people who actually do the work.

The Guild is incorporated under the Incorporated Societies Act 2022 and is governed by an elected committee. It does not operate for private profit. Its purpose is the standing of the craft and the people who practise it.
