Who we are

The New Zealand Tattooists Guild was formed as a platform to act as spokesperson for the New Zealand tattoo industry to government agencies, the media and the public. The New Zealand Tattooists Guild represents the interests of professional artists in conversations about health, safety and regulation. It also works to make sure that those conversations are informed by the voices of the people who actually do the work.

The Guild is incorporated under the Incorporated Societies Act 2022 and is governed by an elected committee. It does not operate for private profit. Its purpose is to serve the people who tattoo and get tattooed, within Aotearoa New Zealand through encouraging education, high standards of art, technical skill and health and safety within the profession, and to work with the Government to ensure that any Government imposed tattoo licensing and policy protects the health and safety of the public without burdening small businesses.
